Do you dream the dream God gives you?

Joseph was stripped of his robe, thrown into the cistern, and then sold to the Ishmaelite for twenty shekels of silver.  That was because he dreamt the dream God gave him and shared it with his brothers.  His brothers could not take it but got hostile.  Sometimes it is very risky, often neglected, or creating lots of enemies to share one’s dream even if it is the right dream God gave.

Joseph was finally sent to Egypt at the age of 17.  He was sold to Potiphar, an Egyptian who was one of Pharaoh’s official.  He treated Joseph nicely and put him in charge of his household.  The problem came from his wife.  She tried to seduce him and deceived his husband and made him to put Joseph into the prison.  What could be worse than that?  However, Joseph was not shaken or collapsed by that because he saw and still hold the dream God gave him.

His dream was not just a dream.  It was not just an illusion or a fantasy.  He had what we call “vision” in his heart.  He saw what could be or should be in the future in the light of God.  His focus was what could be or should be instead of what was.  That was the power that held him upright in the middle of unbearable suffering, accusation, and persecution.

I wonder where we are heading to, Bowmansville!  What do you see when you see the future?  Are we comfortable with who we are and where we are?  Are we not willing to see what could be or should be in the light of God right here at Bowmansville?  Let all of us think about this.  Let us think about how and for what God intends to use us.  It may be risky, neglected, or creating many opponents, but still let us think and talk about it if that is what God wants us to do.  Amen.
