Pastor Jim and his wife, Cheryl, will be going to Red Bird Missions in Beverly, Kentucky after church services on August 20 until August 24 for a Missions hands-on approach.  The Mission is collecting Campbell's UPC Labels for Education....they have collected 1.4 million and need 100,000 more to get a MINI VAN!! Additionally, the following items are especially needed and will be delivered by Pastor Jim:

For kids:
construction paper, board games, calculators:  TX, TXI 30A, clorox wipes, tissues (full box size), colored and black markers, colored pencils, 1" binders, children's dictionary, loose-leaf "college" rule 3-hole paper

For families:  shampoo, soap, deodorant, baby shampoo, nutrition drinks (like Ensure), toothbrushes, family- size toothpaste

Red Bird Mission, Inc. and Red Bird Clinic, Inc. have been providing ministries in the distressed region of the Appalachian Mountains since 1921. Chronic poverty, lack of jobs, poor housing, and rugged mountainous terrain provide obstacles to a fuller life for the residents of this area. Red Bird Mission and Clinic strives to meet these needs through ministry in five areas: Education, Health and Wellness, Community Outreach, Economic Opportunity, and Community Housing Improvement.

Support for these ministries come from churches and individuals across the nation, including The United Methodist Church. The Mission reports there has been a decline in the support received, and they are currently facing a financial crisis that is making it difficult to continue all the areas of ministries provided.
