October 2009

A few weeks ago I used the children's moment time to reflect on what has been done this summer to "Spread the Good News."  I not only wanted to know what the children might have done with their gifts, time, talent and resources, but I found it interesting for the congregation to share their many hours and much needed ministry to the community and to each other.  This is NOT a time to brag about ourselves, but a time to share the many ways the Holy Spirit is working through each of us in a multitude of ways, for the glory and honor of God.  Only by this kind of general sharing can we fully appreciate ALL that is going on around us each day that each of us may not be aware of.

I continue to hold each of you in prayer, because I know many of you did not share on Sunday morning and I know of the multitude of things you are doing.  We will lift up the ministries on occasion in full view of the entire congregation giving praise to The One who encourages us to move on them, and who sustains us in our taking action, creating, sustaining, generating enthusiasm, praying for the ministry itself.  Christ as our teacher leaves no one or no ministry untouched.  If you are feeling called to ministry in some way -- take action.  If you are not sure where to serve, talk to someone - I will be more than glad to look at your interests and see where you might try to start.

Let us continue to follow the scripture from James 1:22 "But be doers of the word, and not only hearers."  It is through our ministry that we are best able to show God's love.

Peace to you
Pastor Katie
