Communion Offerings

posted Mar 2, 2021, 2:20 PM by Deanna Skare

The March and April communion offering will be collected for Compass House.

Their mission is to provide runaway, homeless and street youth with safe shelter and services, through a voluntary and mutually agreed-upon process, in an environment that supports dignity, respect and self-reliance. In a context where young people live in unsafe homes, on the edge of homelessness and with few options, we consider our mission a vital one.

The Compass House Emergency Shelter meets the basic needs of runaway and homeless youth through immediate access to crisis counseling, meals, and a temporary place to stay. Their Resource Center is a place where older children, up to age 24, who are homeless, or at risk of being homeless, can stop-in for guidance in a supportive environment.  They  also have a 24-hour crisis helpline (716) 886-0935.

More information about their services can be found on their website www.compasshouse.org

Christmas Eve Service

posted Nov 28, 2020, 1:38 PM by Bowmansville UMC

Plans are to hold service at 5pm on Thursday December 24th. As the date gets closer we will do our best to notify everyone if that changes based on Covid restrictions.

According to the guidelines our governor has put out, right now we are in an Orange Zone. That means as a church we “are subject to a capacity limit of the lesser of 33% of maximum occupancy or 25 people, whichever is fewer.” If we get moved to a Red Zone, we “are subject to a capacity limit of 25% of maximum occupancy or 10 people, whichever is fewer.” When we get back to a Yellow Zone we will again follow the “capacity limit of 50% of maximum occupancy and adhere to DOH guidance.

Beautification

posted Nov 28, 2020, 1:34 PM by Bowmansville UMC

Beautification of the sanctuary has been moved to Sunday November 29th following the church service.  If you would like to join us, please be mindful of the Covid guidelines and wear your mask and maintain a 6ft distance from others.

Since the Covid guidelines / restrictions for the holiday season are unknown and constantly changing, there are plans to add some lights and Christmas joy outside the church this year. Just in case we can’t be IN church, we will still be able to share the light of Christ with the community.

Church Services

posted Jul 3, 2020, 9:53 AM by Bowmansville UMC

We resume church services in the sanctuary Sunday, July 5 at 9:00 a.m.  Communion will be served while observing Covid 19 guidelines. You must wear a mask and maintain social distancing.  Please enter through the church front door and use only the sanctuary, Sonrise Room and bathroom off the Sonrise Room.  An offering plate will not be passed, but will be available at the back of the sanctuary for your envelopes.  No bibles or hymnals will be available in the pews, but the words to hymns will be on the powerpoint screen.  Should you desire padding while in the pews, please bring your own, as the cushions have been removed. The sanctuary may look bare at first, but it will not be if YOU are there.  We may still chose to enjoy some open air services during the nice summer days.  Welcome back!

Church Services

Church services are being held outside at the church commencing at 9:15 a.m.  You may remain in your car or sit outside in your own lawn chair.  Pastor Kevin is leading the services with Ken's assistance on keyboard and as liturgist. Everyone is expected to maintain at least six feet social distancing or wear a face mask.

The church office is again open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  Should you require assistance, please call Sandy at the office for information.

We hope to resume church services in the sanctuary on July 5 at 9:00 a.m.  Access to the church will be limited to the sanctuary, Sonrise Room, and the bathroom in the Sonrise Room.  We will be entering from the front of the church and into the sanctuary.  Those rooms, and most of the remaining church have been thoroughly cleaned.  Further sanitizing is required following each time the rooms are used.  The rooms appear a bit bare at this time as suggested by reopening protocols.  The pew cushions have been removed, therefore, you must bring your own cushion if needed during the service.  Social distancing or a face mask will continue to apply when we are able to enter the sanctuary.  We anxiously await the reopening!
