Communion Offerings

posted Mar 2, 2021, 2:20 PM by Deanna Skare

The March and April communion offering will be collected for Compass House.

Their mission is to provide runaway, homeless and street youth with safe shelter and services, through a voluntary and mutually agreed-upon process, in an environment that supports dignity, respect and self-reliance. In a context where young people live in unsafe homes, on the edge of homelessness and with few options, we consider our mission a vital one.

The Compass House Emergency Shelter meets the basic needs of runaway and homeless youth through immediate access to crisis counseling, meals, and a temporary place to stay. Their Resource Center is a place where older children, up to age 24, who are homeless, or at risk of being homeless, can stop-in for guidance in a supportive environment.  They  also have a 24-hour crisis helpline (716) 886-0935.

More information about their services can be found on their website

Christmas Eve Service

posted Nov 28, 2020, 1:38 PM by Bowmansville UMC

Plans are to hold service at 5pm on Thursday December 24th. As the date gets closer we will do our best to notify everyone if that changes based on Covid restrictions.

According to the guidelines our governor has put out, right now we are in an Orange Zone. That means as a church we “are subject to a capacity limit of the lesser of 33% of maximum occupancy or 25 people, whichever is fewer.” If we get moved to a Red Zone, we “are subject to a capacity limit of 25% of maximum occupancy or 10 people, whichever is fewer.” When we get back to a Yellow Zone we will again follow the “capacity limit of 50% of maximum occupancy and adhere to DOH guidance.

Beautification of the sanctuary has been moved to Sunday November 29th following the church service.  If you would like to join us, please be mindful of the Covid guidelines and wear your mask and maintain a 6ft distance from others.

Since the Covid guidelines / restrictions for the holiday season are unknown and constantly changing, there are plans to add some lights and Christmas joy outside the church this year. Just in case we can’t be IN church, we will still be able to share the light of Christ with the community.
